Torre de Moncorvo Annual Fair

· Torre de Moncorvo

The traditional Annual Fair returns to Torre de Moncorvo on May 10, 2026. An event that brings together merchants, artisans and regional producers in the center of this Trás-os-Montes town.

The Annual Fair of Torre de Moncorvo is one of the oldest and most iconic commercial traditions in the municipality, held several times a year on fixed dates established by the local council. The May edition takes place on May 10, 2026, bringing the streets and squares of the town center to life with dozens of stalls selling regional products, handicrafts and Trás-os-Montes gastronomy.

This fair has deep roots in the region's history, dating back to the fair privileges granted by King Dinis to Torre de Moncorvo in the 13th and 14th centuries. Over the centuries, these annual fairs have remained important moments of social gathering and commercial exchange for the populations of northeastern Trás-os-Montes.

Visitors can find a wide variety of typical regional products, including Trás-os-Montes DOP olive oil, amêndoa coberta (sugar-coated almonds, the most iconic sweet from Torre de Moncorvo), traditional cured meats, honey, artisanal cheeses and wines from the Upper Douro. Local handicrafts are also well represented, with wrought iron pieces, basketry, traditional textiles and pottery.

The fair extends along the main streets of Torre de Moncorvo's historic center, a town that preserves remarkable architectural heritage, including the Igreja Matriz — one of the largest churches in Portugal — and the Medieval Castle. Visitors can take the opportunity to explore the historic center, visit the Iron and Regional Museum of Moncorvo, and taste the local gastronomy at the town's restaurants.

Torre de Moncorvo is located in the heart of the Upper Douro, surrounded by almond trees, olive groves and vineyards, offering stunning landscapes especially in spring. The Annual Fair is an excellent opportunity to discover this Trás-os-Montes town and its authentic flavours.
