Summer Solstice Festival 2026 - Torre de Moncorvo

· Torre de Moncorvo

The Summer Solstice Festival returns to Torre de Moncorvo on 19 and 20 June 2026, celebrating the arrival of summer with an artistic, cultural and environmental cauldron at the heart of the medieval village. Two days packed with workshops, astronomy sessions, concerts, performances and family activities.

The Summer Solstice Festival is one of the most anticipated events on Torre de Moncorvo's cultural calendar and in 2026 it returns on 19 and 20 June, transforming the historic centre of this medieval Trás-os-Montes village into an open-air stage celebrating the arrival of summer.

Created in 2015 as part of the environment and science month promoted by the Municipality of Torre de Moncorvo, the festival aims to unite generations, communities and nature through an artistic, cultural and environmental cauldron. The summer solstice marks the longest day and the shortest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, and in Moncorvo it is celebrated with the contagious energy of a community that embraces its roots and heritage.

Over the two festival days, the programme features workshops and graphic arts ateliers, astronomy sessions in a portable planetarium, stargazing, concerts for all ages (including concerts for babies), performances, dances, recreations of ancestral summer solstice celebrations, zumba sessions, urban defence classes and bodypainting. For the youngest visitors, there is the fantastic train, the music train and electric scooter rides through the village centre.

One of the highlights is the Solstice Market, with various exhibitors selling handicrafts and regional Trás-os-Montes products, allowing visitors to take a genuine piece of the territory home. The thematic decoration of the festival spaces creates a magical atmosphere that extends well into the night, with the elements of nature - earth, air, fire and water - as the guiding thread of the celebrations.

Held at the heart of the Bragança District, next to the Douro Internacional Natural Park, the Solstice Festival is an ideal opportunity to combine culture, nature and Trás-os-Montes gastronomy, while discovering Moncorvo's historic centre, classified as one of Portugal's most beautiful medieval villages.
