Mirandela City Festival & Our Lady of Amparo 2026
From 25 July to 2 August, Mirandela celebrates its city festival in honour of Our Lady of Amparo, featuring more than 35 free shows. Music, religious tradition, sport and popular entertainment turn this Trás-os-Montes town into one of the country's greatest pilgrimages.
The Mirandela City Festival and Our Lady of Amparo 2026 takes place from 25 July to 2 August, ranking as one of Portugal's most significant pilgrimages. Over nine days, this Trás-os-Montes town comes alive with more than 35 free shows spread across the Square and Sanctuary of Our Lady of Amparo, the Parque do Império, and the streets of the historic centre.
The musical line-up brings together major names from the Portuguese scene. Among the confirmed acts are Herman José, Dillaz, Afonso Dubraz, Bia Caboz, Quim Barreiros and João Pedro Pais, in a programme combining music, popular entertainment, religious moments, sporting events and cultural activities for all ages.
Three moments stand out as the highlights of the festivities. The traditional Noite dos Bombos (Night of the Drums), on 31 July, transforms the heart of the city into a celebration stage with the deep, resonant sound of thousands of bass drums played by locals and visitors alike. Then, on 1 August, comes the dazzling pyromusical spectacle, followed by the Grand Procession in honour of Our Lady of Amparo, winding through the city's decorated streets.
The festival is the result of a collaboration between Mirandela Municipality, the Mirandela Parish Council, and the Brotherhood of Our Lady of Amparo. Beyond the concerts and religious celebrations, visitors can enjoy local gastronomy, most notably Mirandela's famous alheira sausages and the region's olive oil, at food stalls and terraces throughout the city.
With free entry to virtually all events, the Mirandela Festival is a superb opportunity to discover Trás-os-Montes hospitality, popular culture and the religious heritage of this town on the banks of the River Tua. Thousands of visitors are expected across the nine days of celebration, in one of the most eagerly awaited summer highlights in northeastern Portugal.
