· Nazaré

American musician Kassa Overall makes his Portuguese debut at Jazz Valado. Nominated for the 2026 Grammy Awards in the Best Jazz Instrumental Album category, he performs at Cine-Teatro da Nazaré on May 9.

American drummer, rapper, and producer Kassa Overall makes his absolute debut in Portugal on the stage of Cine-Teatro da Nazaré, as part of the 29th edition of the Jazz Valado Festival. This is one of the most anticipated moments of the festival programme, which this year celebrates the centenaries of Miles Davis and John Coltrane.

Kassa Overall is one of the most innovative figures in contemporary jazz, recognized for his unique ability to fuse jazz, hip-hop, and electronic music. His latest album, "Cream," earned him a nomination for the 2026 Grammy Awards in the Best Jazz Instrumental Album category, cementing his status as one of the most relevant artists on the current music scene.

At the Nazaré concert, Kassa Overall will be accompanied by an outstanding quartet: Emilio Modeste on saxophone, Matt Wong on piano and synthesizers, and Bendji Allonce on percussion and vocals. Together, they promise a sonic experience that challenges the traditional boundaries of jazz.

The Jazz Valado Festival, organized by the Biblioteca de Instrução e Recreio (BIR) of Valado dos Frades, runs from April 26 to June 6, 2026, with 11 concerts across several stages in the municipality of Nazaré. The programme also features names such as Ana Bacalhau with the Big Band da Nazaré, Mário Costa Trio, Abe Rábade Trio, and Gileno Santana, who will close the festival with a complete performance of Miles Davis's album "Kind of Blue."

For tourists, this is a rare opportunity to see a world-class artist in an intimate and welcoming setting. Beyond jazz, Nazaré offers its famous giant waves, the panoramic views from the Sítio clifftop, stunning beaches, and unrivalled seafood cuisine. The concert starts at 10 PM.
