The 26th Alvalade – Porto Covo MTB & Gravel Raid is one of Portugal's most iconic off-road cycling events, organized by the BTT Section of FC Alvaladense. On May 17, 2026, over 1,500 cyclists will ride through the Alentejo countryside, connecting the town of Alvalade to the picturesque coastal village of Porto Covo.

Participants can choose between two routes: Route 1, covering approximately 70 km one-way (Alvalade → Porto Covo), or Route 1+2, a 120 km round-trip (Alvalade → Porto Covo → Alvalade). Both itineraries cross stunning landscapes, from the agricultural fields of inland Alentejo to the cliffs and beaches of the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park.

The start takes place at 9:00 AM from Escola Professor Arménio Lança in Alvalade. The event welcomes mountain bikes, gravel bikes, and e-bikes, with the only requirement being respect for fellow riders and the surrounding nature.

Registration is limited to 1,500 participants and can be completed through the official website. The entry fee is €22 for the one-way route and €24 for the round-trip. This fee includes logistical support along the route and sports insurance.

For companions and visitors, Porto Covo offers magnificent beaches, a charming historic center with its quaint main square, and gastronomy featuring fresh fish and seafood. The event is an excellent opportunity to combine sport and tourism in the heart of the Alentejo Coast.

The Alvalade – Porto Covo MTB Raid is more than a sporting event: it's a true celebration of cycling culture and the unique landscapes of southwestern Alentejo, attracting participants from across the country and even from Spain.
