The World Music Festival (FMM Sines) returns to Porto Covo from 17 to 19 July 2026, opening its 26th edition in the heart of this Alentejo fishing village. For three consecutive nights, the historic Largo Marquês de Pombal becomes an open-air stage with free-entry concerts featuring artists from four continents.
Organised by the Sines Municipality in partnership with the Junta de Freguesia de Porto Covo, FMM is widely regarded as one of Europe's most important world music festivals. The 2026 edition features 38 concerts in total, split between Porto Covo (17–19 July) and the city of Sines (20–25 July), with artists from more than 20 countries.
Confirmed names for this edition include Le Trio Joubran (Palestine), Julian Marley (Jamaica), Orquesta Akokán (Cuba), Tamikrest (Mali/Tuareg), Vitorino Salomé (Portugal), Lia Kali (Spain), Mádé Kuti (Nigeria), The Legendary Tigerman (Portugal), A Garota Não and the collaboration between Konono Nº1 and Montparnasse Musique (DR Congo).
Beyond the concerts, the festival offers a parallel programme of exhibitions, science activities, documentary films, children's shows, workshops and a book and vinyl fair. The unique setting of Largo Marquês de Pombal, right by the Atlantic Ocean, makes these three nights in Porto Covo an unmissable experience for anyone visiting Portugal's southwest coast in July.
Entry to all Porto Covo concerts is free. Visitors are advised to arrive early to secure a good spot and to take advantage of the traditional Alentejo cuisine at the village's restaurants.
