26th Alvalade – Porto Covo Mountain Bike Raid
The 26th edition of the iconic Alvalade–Porto Covo Mountain Bike Raid takes place on May 17, 2026. With routes of 70 km and 120 km, this mountain biking event connects the Alentejo hinterland to the stunning coastline of Porto Covo.
The 26th edition of the Alvalade–Porto Covo Mountain Bike Raid is one of the most iconic MTB events in the Alentejo region, annually bringing together hundreds of participants for a unique crossing from the hinterland to the Alentejo coastline. The event takes place on Sunday, May 17, 2026, departing at 9:00 AM from the Escola Professor Arménio Lança school in Alvalade.
Participants can choose between two routes: a 70 km one-way course linking Alvalade directly to Porto Covo, crossing farmlands, cork oak groves, and rural trails to the coast; or the circular 120 km route, which includes the return to Alvalade, designed for more experienced and ambitious cyclists.
Along the way, riders are treated to stunning landscapes of the deep Alentejo, passing through varied terrain including golden plains, pine forests, and the dramatic Vicentine Coast. The arrival in Porto Covo, with its cliffs and crystal-clear beaches, is one of the most memorable moments of the ride.
The Raid BTT Alvalade–Porto Covo is organised by the MTB section of FC Alvaladense and supported by local municipalities. The event is open to all experience levels on the shorter route, while the 120 km course is recommended for cyclists with good physical fitness.
Registration is available through the official website at www.btt.fc-alvaladense.pt. For further information, interested riders can contact the organisation at [email protected]. Don't miss the chance to join this true two-wheeled pilgrimage through the heart of the Alentejo.
