Santa Madalena Festival in Curopos

The Festa de Santa Madalena in Curopos is one of the most striking religious and popular celebrations of the summer in the municipality of Vinhais. Held on July 27, 2026, this Trás-os-Montes festival is a highlight of the community calendar, bringing back to the village many emigrants who return to their homeland especially to participate in the festivities honoring the patron saint.

The traditional program includes a solemn mass in honor of Santa Madalena, celebrated in the village's main church, followed by the procession through streets decorated with flower carpets, festive arches, and lighting typical of Portuguese popular festivals. The image of the saint is carried on a litter by the faithful, accompanied by brass bands that fill the village with music.
