Music on the Esplanade 2026
From 4 to 18 July 2026, the esplanade of Escola D. António da Costa hosts free daily concerts from 8pm. Afrobeat, Brazilian popular music, jazz, fado and cumbia liven up the summer nights in central Almada.
The Music on the Esplanade (Música na Esplanada) initiative returns to Almada from 4 to 18 July 2026, with a programme of entirely free concerts. Part of the festive atmosphere of the Almada Theatre Festival, it takes place on the esplanade of the Escola D. António da Costa in the heart of the city, with daily performances from 8pm.
Audiences can enjoy more than a dozen concerts spanning distinct and infectious musical genres, such as afrobeat, Brazilian popular music (MPB), jazz, fado, cumbia and other world sounds. It is a celebration of musical diversity that turns the warm July nights into an invitation to dance and socialise.
Among the confirmed artists are names such as Cacique'97, Barlavento, Dan Góes, Felipe BPM, Carolina Zingler, The Diga Diga Doo's, G Combo and Daniel Chico Trio, among others. The closing night on 18 July is led by the band Largo da Cumbia, promising a final evening of Latin rhythms and plenty of energy.
Beyond the music, the esplanade serves as a lively meeting point, with a restaurant open to all, creating a relaxed and democratic atmosphere that defines the spirit of summer in Almada. It is the ideal place to end the day, with a cool drink, good food and live music under the starry sky of the Tagus south bank.
Being free and accessible, Music on the Esplanade is an excellent option for tourists and families visiting Almada and Lisbon in July. Just minutes from the capital, it offers an authentic way to experience local culture and discover new sounds. Arriving early is recommended to secure a spot on the busiest nights, especially at weekends.
