Viva o Verão 2026 – Summer Sports and Culture Program
The Viva o Verão holiday program returns to São João da Pesqueira from 6 July to 1 August 2026, with sports, cultural and leisure activities. Sessions take place across the municipality, including Parque da Mata do Cabo, Ferradosa and the Wine Museum.
Viva o Verão 2026 is São João da Pesqueira Town Council's initiative to bring the municipality's summer to life over four weeks, from 6 July to 1 August 2026. Running weekly from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, the program offers a varied mix of sports, cultural and leisure activities designed to fill the summer days with learning, friendship and plenty of fun.
The initiative unfolds across some of the most emblematic spaces in this Douro territory. The Parque da Mata do Cabo, surrounded by nature, hosts outdoor activities; the Ferradosa leisure area, beside the Douro River, becomes a stage for water and sports activities; and the Wine Museum opens its doors to cultural sessions that connect participants with the region's winemaking heritage, classified by UNESCO.
Throughout the weeks, groups are guided by monitors who run games, challenges and workshops, ensuring that every day is a new adventure. The activities blend a sporting spirit with the discovery of local traditions, in a program that celebrates the identity of the Upper Douro and contact with the landscape.
Although primarily aimed at the municipality's younger residents, Viva o Verão is a showcase of São João da Pesqueira's summer energy and a great way to experience the village's public spaces and welcoming atmosphere. Visitors to the region at this time will find a lively village, with people in the streets and activity along the river.
