On May 10, 2026, Vinhais hosts the Vinhais Duathlon – Northern Youth Championship and Open Race, a running and cycling competition organised by the Vinhais Municipal Council in partnership with the Portuguese Triathlon Federation.
Duathlon is a discipline that combines running and cycling — athletes run, then cycle, then run again, testing their endurance and physical versatility across a course that winds through the town centre and the natural surroundings of Vinhais.
The event features two main components: the Northern Youth Championship, for athletes in the Benjamins, Infantis, Iniciados, Juvenis and Cadetes age categories, and an Open Race for participants of any age and level. This inclusive format makes the event accessible to both registered athletes and amateurs looking to try the discipline for the first time.
