Verão In.Str - In Santarém Arts and Culture Festival

· Santarém

Throughout July 2026, Santarém's Historic Centre becomes one big open-air stage with the Verão In.Str festival. Music, dance, gastronomy, children's entertainment and heritage come together in a daily, free programme.

The Verão In.Str – In Santarém Arts and Culture Festival is the major summer cultural initiative of this Ribatejo city, promoted by the Municipality of Santarém in partnership with around one hundred cultural agents, associations and local economic operators. Throughout July 2026, the Historic Centre buzzes to the rhythm of daily performances, with a programme designed for residents and visitors of all ages.

During the week of July 20-26, highlights include a Portuguese guitar concert by Custódio Castelo at Largo do Seminário (July 20, 10:00 PM), the "In.Tradição" cultural animation featuring the "Camponeses" folk dance group in the Historic Centre (July 21, morning), open yoga classes at the Portas do Sol Garden, art workshops for children, storytelling hours and family sports activities.

On July 25, Largo Padre Chiquito hosts an open-air cinema screening, in one of the most beautiful settings in the city. The week culminates on July 26 with the "In.Downtown" event, when traditional shops stay open until 11:00 PM and six points in the Historic Centre simultaneously come alive with music, performances and activities for the whole family.

The programme is spread across several iconic spaces: the Portas do Sol Garden – a stunning viewpoint over the Tagus valley –, Largo do Seminário, Largo Padre Chiquito, the Aqui Há Gato Association and various streets and squares of the medieval Historic Centre, considered Portugal's "Gothic Capital".

All Verão In.Str activities are free of charge. For visitors, it is the perfect opportunity to discover Santarém in a lively and relaxed atmosphere, combining heritage, contemporary culture and Ribatejo gastronomy. Check the full updated programme on the Santarém Cultura website.
