· Miranda do Douro

The Sweet Bread & Local Products Fair returns to Jardim dos Frades Trinos in Miranda do Douro from April 2-4. A celebration of the famous Mirandese Sweet Bread, featuring artisan crafts, smoked meats, cheeses, liqueurs and live music.

The Sweet Bread and Local Products Fair (Feira da Bola Doce e dos Produtos da Terra) returns to Miranda do Douro from April 2-4, 2026, taking over the picturesque Jardim dos Frades Trinos in the historic heart of the city. This annual fair is one of the most iconic gastronomic celebrations in the Trás-os-Montes region, showcasing the famous Mirandese Sweet Bread (Bola Doce), a traditional sweet bread that is a true icon of local pastry-making.

Over three days, visitors will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of typical products from the Land of Miranda. Market stalls will be brimming with exceptional homemade smoked meats, including alheiras, salpicões and cured hams, along with artisan cheeses, regional liqueurs, wines from the Upper Douro, dried fruits, jams and various traditional sweets. Local handicrafts will also take centre stage, with pieces reflecting the rich Mirandese cultural heritage.

The musical programme promises lively entertainment in the evenings. On April 2, the group Vizinhos will take the stage for an opening night performance, while on April 4, the closing act will feature Luís Trigacheiro, well known to Portuguese audiences for his remarkable voice and appearances on talent shows.

Miranda do Douro is a border town of enormous heritage value, famous for its imposing cathedral, the Mirandese language, Portugal's second official language, and ancestral traditions such as the Pauliteiros stick dance. The Sweet Bread Fair is an excellent opportunity to discover this authentic region, combining flavours, culture and conviviality in a festive and welcoming atmosphere.

Entry to the fair is free, making it accessible to all visitors wishing to immerse themselves in the flavours and traditions of the Mirandese Plateau.
