Sintra Medieval Fair 2026
Praça D. Fernando II in São Pedro de Sintra travels back in time for four July days to relive the Middle Ages. Artisans, merchants, performances and period delicacies make up a free-entry fair for the whole family.
The Sintra Medieval Fair returns to Praça D. Fernando II, in the heart of São Pedro de Sintra, from 9 to 12 July 2026, transforming the historic centre into an authentic medieval village. Over four days, streets and squares fill with colour, music and entertainment, recreating the vibrant atmosphere of bygone markets.
With more than a hundred participants, the fair recreates period trades and professions, with artisans working leather, iron, clay and wood before visitors. Merchants offer goods of Arabic origin, spices, conventual sweets, honey, cured meats, cheeses and fresh vegetables, in a true gastronomic journey to the past.
Visitors can watch knights' tournaments, dances, processions, fire shows and street theatre, in a programme that blends historical accuracy with entertainment for all ages. Children find activities designed especially for them, while the curious can taste typical dishes served in medieval taverns.
Organised by the Freguesia de Sintra and promoted by Rz-Eventos, with the support of the Municipality of Sintra, the Medieval Fair is one of the most anticipated events of the Sintra summer. The natural setting of the mountains and the proximity of the palaces give it a unique charm, making the visit an immersive experience.
Entry is free and the event runs from Thursday to Sunday, with extended hours that let you enjoy the fair both during the day and in the late afternoon, when the lighting and bonfires create an even more magical atmosphere. An unmissable opportunity for those visiting Sintra in July who want to dive into history in a fun and authentic way.
