Saint Anthony Festivities 2026 - Reguengos de Monsaraz
The traditional Saint Anthony Festivities, honouring the patron saint of Reguengos de Monsaraz, return from 12 to 15 June 2026 with four days of concerts, popular marches, fanfares and street entertainment. The confirmed lineup includes Nininho Vaz Maia, Quim Barreiros, Bispo and Tiago Bettencourt.
The 2026 Saint Anthony Festivities, the biggest celebration in honour of the patron saint of Reguengos de Monsaraz, take place from 12 to 15 June, turning the historic centre into a huge open-air stage just a few kilometres from the iconic medieval village of Monsaraz.
The official opening is held on Friday, 12 June at 5:30 pm, with a ceremony at the Town Hall (Paços do Concelho). Right after, at 6 pm, the Espaço Santo Antoninho hosts the puppet show Aventuras do Coelhinho by the Maurioneta company, perfect for families.
As night falls, the streets fill with rhythm: the Chicas del Rio group performs at 7:30 pm in Praça da Liberdade, followed by Corazón Flamenco at 9 pm at Largo Almeida Garrett. At 10 pm the main stage welcomes En'Canta Modas, and one hour later Portuguese rapper Bispo takes over. The night closes with an energetic set by DJ Fifty featuring hip hop, trap, reggaeton and afrobeat.
Throughout the weekend the lineup also includes concerts by Nininho Vaz Maia, the ever-popular Quim Barreiros, and the Sociedade Filarmónica Harmonia Reguenguense band with special guest Tiago Bettencourt. The traditional marchas populares parade through the city streets, keeping one of Alentejo's most beloved customs alive.
On Sunday, 14 June, at 11:45 am, the fanfares of the volunteer firefighters parade through the city in a moment always cherished by the local community. Alongside the shows, you'll find food stalls serving Alentejo cuisine, DOC Reguengos wines and activities for all ages.
Visiting Monsaraz during these dates is a rare opportunity to combine the serenity of Alqueva and the medieval village with the festive atmosphere of the surrounding town, making the Saint Anthony Festivities the perfect excuse for a getaway to the heart of Alentejo.
