Sabor & Douro MTB Experience 2026

· Mogadouro

Three days of mountain biking through the stunning landscapes of Mogadouro, covering 150 km of trails in the Douro International Natural Park. The event combines sport, local gastronomy and Trás-os-Montes traditions, limited to 250 participants.

The Sabor & Douro MTB Experience returns to Mogadouro from 22 to 24 May 2026, offering a unique mountain biking experience that combines sport, nature, culture and Trás-os-Montes gastronomy across approximately 150 km of stunning trails.

The event is divided into three distinct stages. On 22 May, the prologue takes participants on a 5 km urban route through Mogadouro's historic centre, passing the iconic Templar castle and clock tower. It's a perfect introduction to the rich heritage of this Trás-os-Montes town.

The first stage on 23 May covers 78 km of natural trails, crossing breathtaking landscapes and iconic viewpoints of the region. Participants will have the chance to discover hidden corners of northeastern Trás-os-Montes, between deep valleys and characteristic plateaus.

On 24 May, the second stage covers 72 km through the Douro International Natural Park, classified as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. This final route offers spectacular views over the Douro cliffs and the wildlife that inhabits this protected region.

The event is organised by Associação Monóptero Bikers with the support of Mogadouro Municipality, and participation is limited to 250 athletes to ensure a quality experience. Riders can enter solo or in pairs, choosing between traditional mountain bikes or e-Bikes. Participants must be at least 19 years old and navigation is GPS-based.

One of the event's greatest assets is its strong cultural and gastronomic component. Over the three days, athletes will have the opportunity to taste products from the «Origem: Mogadouro» brand and experience ancestral regional traditions, such as the Farândulo and Chocalheiro masked figures, iconic characters of Trás-os-Montes folklore.

Confirmed ambassadors for this edition include Tiago Ferreira and Celina Carpinteiro, leading names in national and international mountain biking, which reinforces the event's credibility and competitive level.
