PercuART 2026 – Castelo Branco International Percussion Festival
The seventh edition of PercuART turns Castelo Branco into a percussion capital for five days, with free recitals, concerts, workshops and conferences. The main concerts take place daily at 9:30 pm at Cineteatro Avenida, featuring artists from Portugal, Japan and Taiwan.
From 29 June to 3 July 2026, Castelo Branco hosts the seventh edition of PercuART – International Percussion Festival, one of the most important events of its kind in the country. For five days, the city pulses to the rhythm of recitals, concerts, workshops, masterclasses, lectures and conferences, all free and open to the community.
The festival is built around three main axes: daily recitals and concerts, lectures and conferences, and masterclasses and workshops. The main concerts take place every evening at 9:30 pm at the Cineteatro Avenida, forming the centrepieces of the programme. The Fábrica da Criatividade hosts the workshops and artistic residencies, while the Centro de Cultura Contemporânea de Castelo Branco welcomes the solo recitals.
The 2026 edition brings together a truly international line-up. Performers include Japanese percussionist Kunihiko Komori, Taiwanese artist Yi-Ping Yang, Portuguese musicians Agostinho Sequeira and Rui Silva, and the Pulsat Percussion Group, which returns to the festival. The programme also features works by composers Daniel Martinho and João Quinteiro, with a special focus on contemporary Portuguese composition in the closing concert on 3 July.
More than a concert series, PercuART is a space for learning and exchange, drawing students, professional musicians and the simply curious. The workshops and masterclasses offer direct contact with world-class performers in a relaxed, educational atmosphere. For visitors, it is a rare chance to discover the sonic richness of classical and contemporary percussion in the heart of the Beira Baixa.
With free admission to all activities, PercuART invites regular music lovers and tourists passing through Castelo Branco alike to immerse themselves in five days of intense music, discovery and celebration of rhythm.
