Portugal's largest mountain event returns to Manteigas from June 5-7, 2026, with three days dedicated to nature, adventure, wellness and culture in the Serra da Estrela. Várzea Park hosts the Base Camp with free access.
The Mountain Festival returns to Manteigas, in the heart of Serra da Estrela, from June 5-7, 2026, consolidating its position as the largest mountain event in Portugal. For three unforgettable days, the village of Manteigas transforms into a premier meeting point for lovers of nature, sport, wellness and culture.
Várzea Park hosts the Base Camp, the festival's beating heart, with completely free access. Here you'll find concerts and musical moments, inspiring talks, a market featuring local producers and artisans, an outdoor fair with specialized equipment and mountain tourism offerings, a dedicated children's zone, dining with regional flavors, and many social gathering moments.
The official program includes four main areas: Experiences, with mountain expeditions, trekking and guided activities; Entertainment, with concerts and cultural performances; Base Camp, the festival's logistical and social center; and Wellness, with yoga, pranayamas, ecstatic dance, sound journeys and meditation in nature.
Among the highlighted activities are a 35 km mountain bike route passing through the iconic Poço do Inferno, a two-day mountain expedition, walks with local shepherds who share ancient pastoral wisdom, and zen wellness rituals set against the mountain backdrop.
The festival celebrates the essence of Serra da Estrela, the highest mountain in mainland Portugal, in a format that combines adventure, sustainability and community. Some specific experiences require prior registration and payment for safety and exclusivity reasons, but general access to the Base Camp is free for all visitors.
Manteigas, known as the Heart of Serra da Estrela, offers the perfect setting for this mountain celebration, with its breathtaking landscapes of the Zêzere Glacier Valley and the typical hospitality of the mountain people.
