MIMO Festival Guimarães 2026
The MIMO Festival celebrates a decade in Portugal and arrives in Guimarães for the first time, from 27 June to 5 July 2026. With free admission, it offers concerts, cinema, debates and workshops in the most iconic venues of the UNESCO World Heritage historic centre.
The MIMO Festival marks ten years in Portugal and makes its debut in Guimarães, turning the birthplace of the nation into a vast living stage between 27 June and 5 July 2026. Recognised as one of the largest free culture festivals in the world, MIMO brings to Guimarães a diverse and accessible programme blending music, cinema, idea forums and workshops.
Over nine days, churches, squares, cloisters and cultural venues across the historic centre — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — host concerts, film screenings, debates, workshops and activities for all ages. The highlights take place on 3, 4 and 5 July, with stages in spaces such as the Igreja de São Francisco, the Paço dos Duques de Bragança and Campo de São Mamede.
The line-up gathers artists from several continents. Among the confirmed names are Oumou Sangaré, an iconic voice from Mali, trip hop pioneer Tricky, Daddy G of Massive Attack in a DJ set with Don Letts, and Fernanda Abreu celebrating 30 years of her album «Da Lata». The programme also features Accademia del Piacere, Alaíde Costa with Cristovão Bastos and Mauro Senise, Aline Paes, Zé Ibarra, Barbatuques and many more.
The MIMO Film Festival is dedicated exclusively to films about music, complementing the concert strand with open-air and indoor screenings. The idea forums and workshops reinforce the festival's educational and participatory dimension, in an intimate, family-friendly atmosphere.
With entirely free admission, MIMO Festival Guimarães 2026 is a unique opportunity to discover quality music while exploring one of the most beautiful historic centres in Portugal. A celebration of culture open to all, set where Portuguese nationhood was born.
