Marginal – Festa no Jardim 2026 (Garden Party Festival)

· Viana do Castelo

The open-air Marginal festival returns to the gardens of Viana do Castelo from 3 to 13 July, with concerts, dance, theatre, children's activities and food. A free event that brings the city by the River Lima to life.

The Marginal – Festa no Jardim festival is back in Viana do Castelo from 3 to 13 July 2026, transforming the gardens beside the River Lima into a space of celebration, culture and togetherness. Over eleven days, this free open-air festival offers an intense and varied programme designed for all ages.

The line-up brings together concerts, DJ sets, street performances, theatre, puppetry, dance, circus and roving entertainment, all in a relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere. Activities aimed at children sit alongside moments for adults, creating a truly inclusive event that takes over the Public Garden and the city's riverside area.

Food and drink also take centre stage, with offerings that invite visitors to linger throughout the day and into the night. In previous editions, Marginal has featured initiatives such as craft beer festivals, world-cuisine showcases and rock concerts, reflecting the diversity of a programme that blends culture, leisure and flavour.

Set in one of the most beautiful spots in northern Portugal, by the mouth of the River Lima and just steps from the historic centre, the festival is the perfect excuse to discover Viana do Castelo at the height of summer. Visitors can stroll along the waterfront, explore the city's medieval streets or climb up to the Santa Luzia hilltop.

As a free, open-air event, Marginal is ideal for families, groups of friends and tourists looking to experience the city authentically. The combination of music, art and gastronomy makes it one of the highlights of Viana's July cultural calendar, in a bright and welcoming riverside setting.
