Guarda City Festival 2026

The Guarda City Festival is the biggest event on the summer calendar of Portugal's highest city and, in 2026, it runs from 27 July to 2 August at Parque Urbano do Rio Diz. For a whole week, this riverside green space becomes a genuine stage of celebration, bringing together thousands of locals and visitors in a festive atmosphere that blends music, tradition and community.

The 2026 line-up is one of the strongest yet, headlined by Calema, the São Tomean brother duo who have conquered Portugal with their pop-afrobeat hits. Also taking to the stage are Wet Bed Gang, one of the most popular acts of the new generation of Portuguese hip-hop and R&B, alongside Nuno Ribeiro and musical comedian Chico da Tina. The nights promise to be lively, with performances into the early hours and firework displays.

Beyond the concerts, the grounds offer a varied food area with traditional stalls, food trucks and regional Beira Interior cuisine, from the famous Serra da Estrela cheese to cured meats and conventual sweets. There is also a crafts fair, carousels and bumper cars, sports activities and a children's entertainment programme, making the event appealing for families.

Tickets are affordably priced: general admission with access to all concerts costs 20 euros, while individual shows can be purchased from 5 euros (7.5 euros for Calema). Entry is free for children up to 12 years old. Reservations and information are available through the Guarda Municipality website.

Sitting at over 1,000 metres of altitude, Guarda offers mild summer evenings and a unique setting among historic stone houses and the imposing Cathedral. The City Festival is therefore the perfect excuse to discover this Serra da Estrela region, combining culture, nature and the genuine hospitality of the Beira people.
