FTT - Trás-os-Montes Land Festival 2026
The Trás-os-Montes Land Festival returns to Mogadouro in July 2026, transforming the Castle, Praça da Misericórdia and the Historic Zone into a living stage of traditions. Three days of traditional music, pauliteiros, caretos, bagpipers, gastronomy and crafts.
The FTT - Trás-os-Montes Land Festival is one of the most authentic cultural events in northeastern Portugal, celebrating in Mogadouro the ancestral and contemporary richness of Trás-os-Montes expressions. In 2026, the festival takes place over three days during July.
The setting couldn't be more special: the imposing Castle of Mogadouro, Praça da Misericórdia and the entire Historic Zone of the town transform into living stages, where tradition reinvents itself in dialogue with modernity. The medieval atmosphere of the castle, with its 13th-century keep, lends a unique magic to the performances.
The program celebrates the best of Trás-os-Montes culture through traditional and folk music, with performances by pauliteiros groups — the famous stick dancers from Miranda do Douro —, masked caretos, bagpipers and folklore groups coming from various villages in the region. Ancestral rhythms coexist with contemporary proposals from artists who reinterpret the musical heritage of the territory.
Beyond music, the festival offers a complete sensory experience: an arts and crafts fair with local artisans, demonstrations of traditional skills, regional gastronomy featuring endogenous products such as olive oil, smoked meats, kid, Trás-os-Montes wine and convent sweets, plus spaces dedicated to contact with nature and the cultural rituals that characterize this borderland region.
The FTT stands out for its poetic-cultural dimension, valuing the identity of the Mirandese Plateau and the International Douro. It is a rare opportunity for national and foreign visitors to discover the authentic Portuguese interior, far from more crowded tourist circuits.
Admission is free in all festival spaces. Accommodation is recommended in the town or neighboring villages, along with a complementary visit to the International Douro Natural Park, located nearby.
