Fortaleza de Sagres hosts a showcase by Jacaréu, in partnership with Epopeia Records. An afternoon of hip hop, poetry and social commentary in one of the Algarve's most iconic settings.
On July 27, 2026, the historic Fortaleza de Sagres opens its gates for an exclusive showcase by Jacaréu, in a collaboration between the fortress and Portuguese label Epopeia Records. The event is part of the Fortaleza Cultural programme, which has been bringing emerging names from the national arts scene to the promontory.
Jacaréu is one of the standout names in Portuguese indie-rap, known for a sound that fuses hip hop beats and rhythms with spoken word poetry and sharp social commentary. His lyrics are engaged and reflect the contemporary issues facing today's society, making this performance both a musical and a reflective experience.
The performance begins at 5:00 PM, just as the golden late-afternoon light bathes the centuries-old walls of this Atlantic promontory — once the starting point of the Portuguese Age of Discovery. The setting is genuinely unique: vibrant contemporary hip hop echoing between the stones of one of the country's most symbolic monuments, with the ocean as backdrop.
