FMM Sines 2026 — Opening in Porto Covo

· Porto Covo

The World Music Festival returns to Porto Covo from 17 to 19 July 2026 with three nights of free concerts at Largo Marquês de Pombal. The 26th edition gathers artists from four continents, from Afro-British jazz to Portuguese punk rock.

The World Music Festival (FMM Sines) returns in 2026 for its 26th edition, with the traditional opening in Porto Covo from 17 to 19 July. For three consecutive nights, the picturesque Largo Marquês de Pombal, in the heart of this charming fishing village on the Alentejo coast, becomes an open-air stage where musical traditions from four continents come together — and best of all, admission is free.

The confirmed line-up kicks off on Friday, 17 July, with Portuguese fusions by Bruno Pernadas (9:00 pm) and British Afro-jazz from TC & The Groove Family (10:30 pm). On Saturday, 18 July, the stage welcomes Cuban son by Emilio Moret (9:00 pm), Tuareg music from Tamikrest (10:15 pm), and Slovak psychedelic rock by Tolstoys (11:30 pm). On Sunday, 19 July, the Porto Covo leg closes with Senegalese musician Momi Maiga (9:00 pm) and Portuguese punk icon The Legendary Tigerman (10:30 pm).

FMM is organised by Sines Municipal Council in partnership with Sons em Trânsito and is recognised as one of the most prestigious world music festivals in Europe. The 2026 edition promises 38 concerts in total, featuring artists such as Le Trio Joubran, Julian Marley, Orquesta Akokán, Vitorino Salomé, Lia Kali, Mádé Kuti, A Garota Não and Konono Nº1 in collaboration with Montparnasse Musique.

After the Porto Covo opening, the festival moves to the city of Sines (20–25 July), with stages at the Arts Centre, Pátio das Artes, Largo Poeta Bocage, the Castle and Avenida Vasco da Gama. For visitors to the Alentejo coast in July, the Porto Covo opening is an unmissable chance to combine the beaches of Pessegueiro and Samoqueira with nights of global music under the stars, in one of the most beautiful settings on the Portuguese coast.
