FLiD – the Douro Literary Festival returns to Sabrosa for its 8th edition, taking place from May 7 to 9, 2026, at the Espaço Miguel Torga. This landmark cultural event in Northern Portugal brings together writers, poets, essayists, visual artists, and musicians from the national and international literary scene, promoting debate and celebrating culture in a territory deeply shaped by the work of writer Miguel Torga, born in São Martinho de Anta, in the municipality of Sabrosa.

The 2026 edition celebrates poetry, placing it at the heart of the festival's programme. Over three days, visitors can attend round-table discussions, poetry readings, book launches, and conversations with around 20 invited poets, essayists, and artists. The programme also includes a book fair and a pilgrimage to the tomb of Miguel Torga in São Martinho de Anta, paying tribute to the legacy of this iconic Trás-os-Montes author.

Espaço Miguel Torga, the festival's home, is a cultural centre dedicated to the life and work of the writer, located in the historic centre of Sabrosa. The building features contemporary architecture integrated into the Douro landscape and is itself a point of interest for visitors to the region. Entry to the festival is free, making it accessible to all lovers of literature and Portuguese culture.

Sabrosa lies within the Douro Demarcated Region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering visitors a stunning landscape of terraced vineyards, historic estates, and preserved villages. FLiD is a unique opportunity to combine literary discovery with exploration of one of Portugal's most iconic landscapes. Visitors can also enjoy Douro wines and traditional Trás-os-Montes cuisine at the various local restaurants and taverns.
