Exhibition "Restless Archive – Fragments of the Life of Jorge de Lima"

· Vinhais

A unique cultural exhibition in Vinhais showcasing fragments of the life and work of Jorge de Lima. Open to the public until 30 June 2026, it offers an intimate look at this artist's legacy.

The Vinhais Municipal Council presents the exhibition "Restless Archive – Fragments of the Life of Jorge de Lima", a culturally significant initiative open to the public from 17 May to 30 June 2026. This exhibition brings together documents, photographs, personal objects and artistic materials that allow visitors to journey through defining moments of this creator's life and work.

Held in the historic centre of Vinhais, the exhibition offers a unique opportunity to discover the creative universe of Jorge de Lima through an archive that defines itself as "restless" — alive, multifaceted and in constant dialogue with the present. Visitors are invited to explore fragments of an artistic and personal trajectory that crosses various languages and influences.

The curatorial approach proposes a non-linear journey, in which each piece functions as a gateway to episodes, ideas and relationships that shaped the artist's life. Manuscripts, correspondence, sound and visual records make up this set, which asserts itself as an exercise in memory and reflection on the role of the archive in contemporary culture.

The initiative is part of the cultural policy of the municipality of Vinhais, which has been investing in the appreciation of artistic heritage and the promotion of events that place the municipality on the cultural map of northeastern Trás-os-Montes. For visitors travelling to Vinhais during May and June, this exhibition is an ideal complement to discovering the local gastronomy, the natural heritage of the Montesinho Natural Park and the rural traditions of the region.

Admission is free. Visitors are advised to confirm opening hours in advance with the Vinhais Municipal Council.
