Douro Wine City 2026 - 6th Edition

The Douro Wine City returns to Peso da Régua for its 6th edition, from 5 to 13 June 2026, transforming the Municipal Auditorium (AUDIR) into the Portuguese capital of wine for more than a week. Organised by the Municipality of Peso da Régua in partnership with Essência Company, the event celebrates the wine heritage of the Douro Demarcated Region, the oldest demarcated and regulated wine region in the world.

During the first days of the event, from 5 to 7 June, visitors can enjoy free wine tastings with more than one hundred producers from the region, showcookings with renowned national chefs, wine conversations led by sommeliers, and live music performances. Activities run from 4:00 PM to midnight, with exhibitors open from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

From 8 to 13 June, the event continues with the "After Douro Wine City" programme, offering additional entertainment, concerts and street animation in the city centre, complementing the region's tourist offer during weekdays.

Douro Wine City is a unique opportunity to discover rare Douro grape varieties, experience pairings between Port wines and DOC Douro wines and regional gastronomy, and meet face-to-face the producers who make this region a unique case worldwide. Admission is free, although some activities such as Wine Conversations and Showcookings have limited places — pre-registration via the Essência Company app is recommended.

Peso da Régua, considered the capital of the Douro wine region, is the ideal setting for this event, with its terraced vineyards classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Douro Museum, and the river dock where traditional rabelo boats moor. Combining a visit to Douro Wine City with a Douro River cruise or a tour of a wine-producing quinta is an unmissable experience.
