Billabong Ericeira 2026 by Native Açaí
Ericeira Surf Club presents another edition of the Billabong Ericeira competition, part of the club's circuit at the World Surfing Reserve. Two days of intense surfing across multiple categories.
On June 20 and 21, 2026, Ericeira once again hosts competitive surfing with the Billabong Ericeira 2026, by Native Açaí, organized by the historic Ericeira Surf Club. This competition is part of the club's 2026 calendar, which brings together events for all generations of surfers, from the youngest to the veterans.
Ericeira Surf Club, founded in 1989, is a reference institution in Portuguese and European surfing. Its 2026 events plan has been designed with a focus on training and competition, continuing the mission of promoting surf in the region and discovering new talent. The Billabong competition, sponsored by the well-known Australian brand and by Native Açaí, is one of the highlights of the season.
Heats run throughout the weekend at Ericeira's beaches, Europe's first World Surfing Reserve, designated in 2011. This classification recognizes the exceptional quality of the region's waves, which remain consistent throughout the year and offer ideal conditions for competitive practice. Beaches such as Ribeira d'Ilhas — host of World Tour stages in the 1980s — Coxos, Pedra Branca and Foz do Lizandro are candidates to host the competition, depending on ocean conditions.
For visitors, it's a rare opportunity to watch quality surf competitions for free in a stunning natural setting. Bring sunscreen, water and a windbreaker, as the coastal wind can be strong even in June. The viewpoints overlooking the beaches offer privileged perspectives to follow the action in the water.
The town of Ericeira complements the experience with its array of cafes, restaurants specializing in fresh fish and seafood, and surf shops that make the destination a true mecca for enthusiasts of the sport. The atmosphere is family-friendly and relaxed, a characteristic that distinguishes Ericeira as a top tourist destination on the Portuguese coast.
Registration for surfers is open through the official Ericeira Surf Club website. Admission for the public is free.
