ARTIS 2026 – Seia Art Festival
ARTIS returns to Seia with an edition themed "Resist – Art as a Tool of Resistance". For almost three months, this Serra da Estrela town hosts visual arts, concerts, film, workshops and debates open to all audiences.
ARTIS – Seia Art Festival is one of the most significant cultural events in the Serra da Estrela region and, in 2026, it returns with an ambitious programme running from 2 May to 25 July. This year's edition is built around the theme "Resist – Art as a Tool of Resistance", inviting reflection on the transformative role of artistic creation in today's world.
Over nearly three months, the town of Seia becomes a living stage where different artistic languages meet. The programme features exhibitions of painting, sculpture and photography, concerts, film screenings, creative workshops, talks and debates. This diversity makes the festival especially appealing for those visiting the region during the summer, allowing visitors to combine the discovery of Serra da Estrela's nature with rich cultural experiences.
In July, the festival reaches its final stretch, with several initiatives taking place across the historic centre and cultural venues of Seia. It is the ideal opportunity for visitors to experience the local arts scene, meet Portuguese creators and take part in activities designed for all ages. A strong community focus and a commitment to accessibility are hallmarks of ARTIS, which seeks to bring contemporary art closer to diverse audiences.
Set on the western slope of the Serra da Estrela, Seia also offers visitors a rich mountain cuisine, breathtaking landscapes and a unique natural heritage, making a trip to the festival the perfect excuse to explore the region. Visitors are encouraged to check the full programme to confirm dates, times and specific locations for each activity, as the schedule spreads across multiple days and venues throughout July.
