Aljezur Earth Fair (Feira da Terra)
On Saturdays from July to September, the Espaço Multiusos de Aljezur hosts the Earth Fair, a showcase of organic products, honey, sausages, regional sweets and local crafts. The perfect morning to discover the authentic flavours of the region.
The Aljezur Earth Fair (Feira da Terra) is one of the most beloved initiatives in the municipality, dedicated to promoting traditional rural products and supporting small local producers. It takes place on Saturday mornings from July to September at the Espaço Multiusos de Aljezur (EMA), from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Throughout the morning, the stalls overflow with natural and organic farming products, mountain honey, artisan sausages, cheeses, wood-fired bread, jams, homemade liqueurs and the famous regional sweets made with Aljezur sweet potato, a product with Protected Geographical Indication status. Fresh vegetables, picked that same day, complete the gastronomic offer.
The fair is also a hub for local crafts: cork pieces, basketry, weaving, ceramics and woodwork using strawberry tree, holm oak and cork oak, all created by artisans from the Costa Vicentina. Each stall tells a story, and visitors can chat directly with the producers, discovering techniques and traditions passed down through generations.
The main goal of the Earth Fair is to promote handicrafts, agricultural products and economic activities that celebrate the customs of the Aljezur council, contributing to the cultural and social vitality of the region. It is an ideal opportunity for tourists seeking a genuine experience, away from conventional circuits, and for anyone wanting to bring home authentic souvenirs from the southwest Algarve.
Admission is free, there is ample parking at the EMA, and the fair is a short walk from the historic centre of Aljezur, with the medieval castle on the horizon. We recommend visiting early in the morning, when products are at their freshest and the atmosphere is at its liveliest.
