5th Estremoz Fado Festival - Closing Concert
The Alentejo's largest fado festival closes its fifth edition with a special concert by Jorge Fernando and Fábia Rebordão. Free admission to an event celebrating the soul of fado in Estremoz.
The 5th Estremoz Fado Festival reaches its peak on June 13, 2026, with a closing concert featuring two of Portuguese fado's biggest names: Jorge Fernando and Fábia Rebordão. Considered by many the largest fado festival in the Alentejo, this event unfolds over several weeks across the Estremoz municipality, culminating in this special concert that promises to fill the marble city with emotion.
Jorge Fernando, renowned as a composer, guitarist, and singer who accompanied Amália Rodrigues for years, brings his vast experience and musical sensitivity. Alongside him, Fábia Rebordão, one of the most acclaimed voices of fado's new generation, will elevate the audience's spirits with her intense and emotional interpretation.
The Estremoz Fado Festival has established itself as a cultural landmark on the Alentejo calendar, bringing fado to different parishes within the municipality. In the preceding weeks, the festival visited São Domingos de Ana Loura with Miguel Ramos (June 5), included a special recording of RTP's "Em Casa d'Amália ao vivo" program (June 6), and São Lourenço de Mamporcão with Silvino Sardo (June 12).
Admission to all concerts is free, making this festival a unique opportunity to discover the best of contemporary fado in an intimate and welcoming atmosphere in the heart of the Alentejo. Estremoz, with its marble architecture, medieval castle, and culinary traditions, offers the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable cultural experience.
Visitors can take advantage of their stay to explore the historic center, visit Estremoz Castle, and savor the famous Alentejo gastronomy at local restaurants. This is a must-attend event for lovers of Portuguese music and anyone seeking an authentic cultural experience in Portugal.
