21st Portalegre Jazzfest

· Portalegre

One of Portugal's most prestigious jazz festivals returns to Portalegre from 2 to 4 July. Three days of concerts spread across the city, featuring emerging talents and renowned names from the national, European and world contemporary jazz scene.

The Portalegre Jazzfest celebrates its 21st edition from 2 to 4 July 2026, reaffirming its status as one of Portugal's most important jazz festivals. Organised by the Municipality of Portalegre, the event offers a diverse, decentralised programme full of young talents and renowned names from the national, European and world contemporary jazz scene.

The main stage is the Centro de Artes do Espectáculo de Portalegre (CAEP), but the music spreads across several points in the city. After-hours concerts take place in the historic Convento de Santa Clara, while the garden of the Portalegre Tapestry Museum – Guy Fino hosts the new American Guitar cycle over all three days, featuring guitarists Kelby Clark and Emily Robb (USA) and Hein Westgaard (Norway). There are also performances at the Improvisos space in the Business Center Portalegre and the lively DíJazz Band at the Corredoura Garden.

The 2026 line-up also includes names such as the Sexteto de Jazz, celebrating 40 years of its career, singer Sara Serpa accompanied by pianist Matt Mitchell, the Matriz_Motriz project and saxophonist Aksel Røed from Bergen. Beyond the music, the festival offers wine tastings and regional product showcases, as well as a Record and Book Fair in collaboration with the Clean Feed label.

Daily tickets for concerts in the Main Auditorium cost €10, with a €25 Pass granting access to all three CAEP concerts. Reservations can be made directly at the CAEP by calling 245 307 498. An unmissable experience for music lovers visiting the Alto Alentejo in summer.
