São Tiago Fair 2026 – Covilhã
One of the oldest fairs in the Iberian Peninsula returns to Covilhã from 16 to 26 July 2026. Eleven days of music, tradition and fun, with major names of Portuguese music on the main stage.
The São Tiago Fair is one of the most iconic events in Covilhã and across the entire Serra da Estrela region. In 2026 it celebrates its 613th anniversary, standing as one of the oldest fairs in the Iberian Peninsula. From 16 to 26 July, the city transforms into a vast festive ground, offering more than a week of continuous entertainment for all ages.
The fairground hosts daily shows on the main stage, with a line-up packed with major stars of Portuguese music. Confirmed artists include Sara Correia, Diogo Piçarra, Bárbara Bandeira, Vizinhos, Plutónio, Pedro Abrunhosa, Quim Barreiros, João Gil, Inês Vasconcellos and Rita Guerra on the main stage. Calema, Fernando Daniel, D.A.M.A, Matias Damásio, Virgul, FF and José Cid complete a programme designed to please every taste.
Beyond the concerts, the São Tiago Fair keeps its most traditional side very much alive. Visitors will find handicraft stalls, regional sweets, local gastronomy, attractions for the youngest and the typical atmosphere of Portugal's great popular fairs. It is the perfect place to taste Serra da Estrela products such as cheese, cured meats and convent pastries, all wrapped in the contagious joy of Covilhã's summer.
The fair has centuries-old roots and retains its importance as a meeting point for traders, artisans and visitors from across the region. Today it is also a cultural and tourist showcase that draws thousands of people to this mountain city, helping to energise the local economy and share the best of the Beira Interior.
Those visiting Covilhã during this period can also explore the historic centre, the famous urban art murals, the legacy of the textile industry and the nearby Serra da Estrela. The São Tiago Fair is, without doubt, one of the best reasons to visit the city in July. For information and schedules, contact the Municipality of Covilhã on +351 275 330 600.
