Rip Curl GromSearch Ericeira 2026

· Ericeira

The fourth stage of the European Rip Curl GromSearch circuit comes to Ericeira, gathering Europe's best young surfers. Three days of competition in U-12, U-14 and U-16 categories, male and female.

Ericeira, World Surfing Reserve, will host one of Europe's most prestigious youth surf competitions between June 5 and 7, 2026: the Rip Curl GromSearch, presented by Citroën. This is the fourth stage of the European circuit, which has served as one of the biggest launch platforms for the new generation of European surfing.

For three days, Ericeira's waves will stage intense heats among young talents in the U-12, U-14 and U-16 categories, both male and female. The winners of the U-16 categories will earn direct qualification to the European Final, scheduled for September 19 in Munich, Germany, and may further qualify for the International Final.

The Rip Curl GromSearch circuit is internationally recognized for discovering and promoting the most promising surfers. Many of today's professionals on the World Tour passed through this competition during their formative years, making this stage a unique opportunity for fans to witness high-level surfing and perhaps catch a glimpse of tomorrow's stars.

The choice of Ericeira is no coincidence: Europe's first World Surfing Reserve offers consistent and varied wave conditions, ideal for a competition of this scale. The region's beaches, internationally known as Ribeira d'Ilhas, Coxos and São Lourenço, have hosted World Tour events for decades.

Beyond the sporting component, the event is supported by brands such as Citroën, SunBum, I Sea and FCS, offering visitors a complete experience that combines surf, lifestyle and youth culture. The town of Ericeira, with its laid-back atmosphere, fresh fish restaurants and surfing tradition, is the ideal complement to a weekend dedicated to the sea.

Admission to watch the competition on the beach is free. Visitors are advised to arrive early and check the event's official social media to confirm the chosen beach according to ocean conditions.
