Monção Alvarinho Wine Fair 2026
The 29th edition of the Alvarinho Wine Fair returns to Parque das Caldas in Monção from July 2-5, 2026. Four days dedicated to the finest Alvarinho wine from the Monção and Melgaço sub-region, featuring regional cuisine, handicrafts and major concerts.
The Monção Alvarinho Wine Fair is the largest wine event in the Alto Minho region and one of Portugal's most important wine tourism gatherings. In 2026, the 29th edition takes place from July 2-5 at the historic Parque das Caldas, on the banks of the Minho River, turning Monção into the national capital of Alvarinho wine.
More than 100,000 visitors are expected over the four days, drawn by the chance to taste and buy directly from producers the finest Alvarinhos from the demarcated Monção and Melgaço sub-region. Around 39 producers will be present, offering guided tastings, oenology workshops and direct sales to the public.
Alongside the wine component, the fair offers a wide gastronomic experience featuring traditional Minho dishes, local handicrafts, folk groups and family-friendly activities. The 2026 music lineup is particularly strong: Xutos & Pontapés perform on July 2 at 10:00 PM, followed by Sinfonia Eletrónica on July 3 at 10:30 PM, Vizinhos on July 4 at 6:00 PM and the popular Quim Barreiros closing the festival on July 5 at 3:30 PM.
Admission to the fair is free, with free circulation between the wine tasting areas and food zones. Free shuttle services operate on Friday and Saturday nights, and there's free motorhome parking available (with mandatory reservation). A dedicated children's area provides continuous entertainment.
The organization maintains its environmental commitment, with the traditional cork stopper collection initiative in partnership with Quercus and Corticeira Amorim. For lovers of vinho verde and Alto Minho culture, the Alvarinho Fair is an essential stop during the Portuguese summer.
