Maravilha Festival 2026 – Horta

· Horta

The Maravilha Festival returns to Horta for its 6th edition, with unique floating performances between Porto Pim beach and the Marina. Music, contemporary circus and visual arts transform public spaces and the sea itself into an open-air stage for everyone.

The Maravilha Festival is one of the most original cultural events in the Azores and returns to the city of Horta, on Faial island, for its 6th edition. Organised by the cultural association Associação Cultural Fazendo, the festival stands out for its floating performances, where shows take place on the water between Porto Pim beach and Marina da Horta, creating a truly unforgettable scenic experience.

The festival's second phase, scheduled for 17 to 20 July 2026, takes advantage of warmer water temperatures to invite audiences into the sea to enjoy concerts and artistic interventions in an utterly unique way. The programme blends music, contemporary circus, visual arts and street interventions, drawing performers from Portugal and abroad.

Confirmed names on the line-up include Virgem Suta, Farra Fanfarra, Rokia Koné and Romeu Bairos, among others, complemented by performing arts companies featuring giant puppets and street shows. There are also moments of local gastronomy, crafts, children's activities and stage concerts, creating a festive atmosphere that connects the visiting artist community with local residents.

The festival was born from a desire to bring the artists arriving at the Marina closer to the people of Horta, bringing the city's public spaces and harbour to life. During the event, downtown Horta fills with colour, sound and movement in a programme designed for all ages.

For visitors exploring the Azorean Triangle — Faial, Pico and São Jorge — the Maravilha Festival is an unmissable chance to discover the most creative and cosmopolitan side of Horta, internationally known as a port of call for sailors crossing the Atlantic. Early arrival is recommended to secure accommodation, as July is a high-demand month across the islands.
