Dekula Band Live at República 14
Dekula Band brings a vibrant night of Congolese rumba, soukous, salsa and afro music to Olhão. Five musicians from Africa and Europe unite for a unique concert at Associação Cultural República 14.
On June 6, 2026, Associação Cultural República 14 in Olhão hosts one of the most anticipated concerts of the Algarve summer: a performance by Dekula Band. At 9:00 PM, the stage at this beloved cultural venue will come alive with Congolese rumba, soukous, salsa and afro sounds, in a show that promises to take the audience on a musical journey across the African continent.
Dekula Band features five musicians of diverse origins: vocalist Kababa Nkomba-Gaby (Democratic Republic of Congo), lead guitarist Dekula Kahanga-Vumbi (DRC), rhythm guitarist Göran Larsson (Sweden), bassist Iluba Joseph Ishara (Uganda) and drummer Cissokho Lalo (Senegal). The founding members relocated to Sweden around 1980 after performing with some of the most important African orchestras based in Tanzania.
Since forming in 2015, Dekula Band has built a loyal following in Stockholm and on international stages including Amsterdam, London, Vienna, and at numerous festivals across Finland and Denmark. This summer, the band releases a new album titled Slavery is Crime: Coltan Sounds, available on digital and vinyl formats.
Olhão, with its Ria Formosa setting and rich musical tradition, is the perfect stage for this cultural encounter. República 14, located at Av. da República, is a cultural landmark in the city, known for programming intimate and diverse concerts throughout the year. Fans of world music, jazz and African rhythms should not miss this rare opportunity to see Dekula Band perform in Portugal.
Early arrival is recommended due to the limited capacity of the venue and typical demand for international concerts. For ticket information and reservations, contact Associação Cultural República 14 directly.
