Bom Sucesso Festival 2026 – Music by the Óbidos Lagoon

· Óbidos

From August 6 to 9, the fishermen's village of Vau hosts the Bom Sucesso Festival, with free open-air concerts beside the Óbidos Lagoon. Four evenings of music, community gatherings and activities for all ages in a unique natural setting.

The Bom Sucesso Festival returns in 2026 to light up summer evenings beside the Óbidos Lagoon. From August 6 to 9, starting at 9:00 PM, the Aldeia dos Pescadores (Fishermen's Village) in Vau becomes an open-air stage where music blends with the lagoon landscape, in one of the most beautiful corners of the Óbidos municipality.

Organised as part of the Municipality of Óbidos' cultural programme, the festival celebrates cultural life on the lagoon's edge, bringing together music, activities and proposals for different audiences. The programme features open-air concerts, outdoor experiences and social gatherings designed to strengthen the connection between the community — and visitors — and this unique territory between land and water.

The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly: bring a blanket or beach chair, arrive early to enjoy the sunset over the lagoon, and stay for evenings of music that run until close to midnight. The setting in the Fishermen's Village, with its traditional fishermen's huts, adds a special charm to the event, evoking the memory of the communities that for generations lived from fishing on the Óbidos Lagoon.

Admission is free, making the festival an excellent option for families and for anyone holidaying in Portugal's Oeste region. The nearby beaches of Bom Sucesso and Foz do Arelho let you combine a day at the beach with an evening of concerts, while the medieval town of Óbidos, just a few minutes away by car, completes the perfect summer itinerary.

For visitors to Portugal in August, the Bom Sucesso Festival is an authentic way to experience a Portuguese summer: open-air music, local food, nature and the welcoming spirit of the Oeste's lagoon-side communities. Check the Óbidos cultural agenda and the festival's official website for the full line-up and any parallel activities, such as nature-based initiatives and programmes for children.

Four nights, a stunning setting and free entry: more than enough reasons to pencil in a visit to Vau and the Óbidos Lagoon this August.
