From 17 to 19 July 2026, the Artes à Vila Festival returns to the Monastery and town of Batalha for three days of music, encounters and discovery. A member of the Club for UNESCO, the festival has established itself as a meeting point for Portuguese music, offering a contemporary listening experience where established artists and emerging names blend tradition and the present, new languages in dialogue with ancient roots.
The setting could not be more inspiring: the Unfinished Chapels (Capelas Imperfeitas) and the Royal Cloister of Batalha Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, host concerts and unique moments. Over the three days, audiences can expect performances from artists such as Lisa Sereno, thispage, puto bacoco, Tomás Wallenstein, Jorge Palma and Ana Lua Caiano, in a programme celebrating the richness and diversity of music made in Portugal.
The 2026 edition places special focus on artists from the Leiria region, affected by Storm Kristin, with a dedicated stage. The festival also hosts the second edition of the PLAY TRADICIONAL Awards, a special moment recognising and celebrating Portuguese traditional roots music.
Beyond the concerts, the programme includes exhibitions, workshops, and guided tours of the heritage sites and the Batalha Monastery itself, turning the event into a complete cultural experience that invites visitors to explore the town and its history.
