Torre de Moncorvo Town and Municipality Festivities 2026

· Torre de Moncorvo

From 13 to 15 August, Torre de Moncorvo celebrates its Town and Municipality Festivities, the biggest summer celebration in this Trás-os-Montes town. The historic centre fills with concerts by local and regional artists, street entertainment and popular festivities.

The Town and Municipality Festivities of Torre de Moncorvo return from 13 to 15 August 2026, coinciding as always with the Assumption of Our Lady holiday on 15 August. This is the highlight of the town's summer festive calendar, drawing thousands of visitors, returning emigrants and tourists exploring the Douro Superior region at this time of year.

For three days, the historic centre of Torre de Moncorvo becomes a great open-air stage. The programme features concerts by local and regional artists, street entertainment, traditional festivities and lively gatherings that stretch late into the night. The narrow streets of the old town, dominated by the imposing Parish Church — one of the largest in Trás-os-Montes — come alive with music, light and colour.

The festivities are also an excellent opportunity to discover the local gastronomy. Torre de Moncorvo is known as the Land of the Almond, and its traditional sugar-coated almonds, convent sweets and regional products such as olive oil, Douro Superior wines and cured sausages feature prominently at the stalls and food tents scattered around town. In previous years, the festivities have been accompanied by ExpoMoncorvo, a showcase of regional businesses, crafts and local products that complements the musical programme.

For anyone visiting the Douro Superior in August, this is the perfect occasion to combine the festival with exploring the area: the Foz do Sabor river beach, the Reboredo mountain range, the Iron Museum and the town's Jewish heritage are all just minutes from the centre. Warm Trás-os-Montes summer nights and the genuine hospitality of the locals complete the experience.

Entry to the festivities is free. The detailed programme, with confirmation of each night's headline acts, is usually announced by the Municipality of Torre de Moncorvo in the weeks leading up to the event, so checking the municipality's official channels before visiting is recommended.
