Olhão South Jazz 2026
The first edition of the Olhão South Jazz festival brings two days of music to the city's riverside, overlooking the Ria Formosa. The lineup features Júlio Resende, Áurea, Sara Badalo and the Algarve Jazz Orchestra, in a setting that blends concerts, food and a craft market at sunset.
Olhão South Jazz debuts in July 2026 as one of the most ambitious cultural ventures in this Algarve town. Held at Parque Ribeirinho Poente, beside the Ria Formosa, the festival aims to establish itself as a reference on the national and international jazz circuit, pairing top-quality music with a stunning natural setting.
Over two days, 24 and 25 July, the stage welcomes acclaimed names from the Portuguese scene. On 24 July, the Algarve Jazz Orchestra performs with Cuban musicians Raul Reyes and Osvaldo Pegudo in the show "Caribe Libre", a vibrant dialogue between jazz and Latin rhythms. The first edition's lineup also features pianist Júlio Resende, singer Áurea and rising voice Sara Badalo.
Beyond the musical programme, which runs from 6pm to midnight, the venue offers a complete experience: a lounge area, food trucks, a bar, photo spots and the Ria Market, dedicated to crafts, independent brands and local projects. It's the perfect place to discover Algarve creativity while enjoying the sunset over the lagoon.
The relaxed open-air atmosphere makes the festival ideal for summer visitors to the Algarve seeking a cultural alternative to the beaches. Olhão's riverside, with its unique views over the Ria Formosa barrier islands, provides a memorable backdrop for nights of music.
Daily tickets cost €10 and a two-day pass is available for €15, making this one of the most affordable cultural events in the region. Early purchase is recommended given the anticipation around this premiere. The festival forms part of the celebrations marking Olhão's bicentenary, reinforcing the town's maritime and cultural identity.
