March Youth 2026

· Portimão

Portimão celebrates youth with a month full of free activities, from concerts and sports to urban art and creative workshops across the city.

Throughout the entire month of March, Portimão transforms into a vibrant stage dedicated to the energy, creativity, and dynamism of the younger generations. 'March Youth' (Março Jovem) is one of the city's most emblematic and established events, celebrating its 28th edition in 2026 under the catchy slogan 'Bora lá!' (Let's go!). This comprehensive program, organized by the Portimão City Council in close collaboration with youth associations, local entities, and educational institutions, offers a wide range of activities covering diverse areas such as music, dance, sports, visual arts, environment, training, and volunteering.

Over thirty days, visitors and residents of all ages—though specifically focused on youth—can participate in numerous workshops designed to encourage the development of new skills and the discovery of hidden talents. From music production and creative writing workshops to introductory sessions on new technologies and sustainability, the offerings are curated to inspire. Weekends are usually packed with major entertainment moments, including concerts by rising national artists, urban dance performances, and theater showcases in public spaces, the Municipal Auditorium, or the Portimão Arena.

For sports enthusiasts, March Youth includes tournaments for both traditional and extreme sports, taking advantage of the city's excellent infrastructure and its unique natural setting. The event also serves as a crucial platform for active citizenship, promoting debates on contemporary issues and social impact initiatives, such as beach clean-ups and local volunteering projects. The city takes on a new color with urban art interventions that revitalize common spaces, reflecting the aspirations of Algarve's youth. Participating in March Youth means diving into the modern soul of Portimão, experiencing an environment of conviviality, learning, and cultural celebration that attracts visitors from across the region and beyond, solidifying the city as a dynamic hub for youth culture in southern Portugal.
