The 29th edition of Jazz Valado kicks off with the Big Band da Nazaré and special guest Ana Bacalhau, vocalist of Deolinda. An unmissable concert at Cine-Teatro da Nazaré, celebrating the centenaries of Miles Davis and John Coltrane.
The Big Band of Nazaré Municipality takes the stage at Cine-Teatro da Nazaré for the opening concert of the 29th edition of the Jazz Valado Festival, one of Portugal's longest-running jazz festivals. This year's edition celebrates two historic milestones in world jazz: the birth centenaries of Miles Davis and John Coltrane, both born in 1926.
The special guest of the evening is Ana Bacalhau, one of the most charismatic voices in contemporary Portuguese music. Known as the vocalist of the beloved project Deolinda, Ana Bacalhau launched her solo career in 2017 and has won over audiences with her versatility and stage presence. Her fusion with the energy of the Big Band da Nazaré promises a memorable night where jazz meets Portuguese song.
The Jazz Valado Festival is organized by the Biblioteca de Instrução e Recreio (BIR) of Valado dos Frades, in the municipality of Nazaré, and spans more than five weeks, from April 26 to June 6, 2026. The programme includes 11 concerts spread across several iconic stages: Avenida Marginal da Nazaré, Praça 25 de Abril, Cine-Teatro da Nazaré, BIR Hall, and Teatro Chaby Pinheiro.
The Cine-Teatro da Nazaré, located on Rua Dr. Ruy Rosa, is the town's main cultural venue and offers excellent acoustics for concerts. Its central location makes it easily accessible on foot for visitors staying in Nazaré's tourist area.
