Veggie Vibes Festival at Santa Clara Market
From 9 to 13 June 2026, the Santa Clara Market in São Vicente hosts the Veggie Vibes Festival, a vegetarian fair within the Santos Populares celebrations. Five days of meat-free food, live music and neighborhood vibes next to the National Pantheon.
The Veggie Vibes Festival is the vegetarian alternative to the Santos Populares celebrations in the São Vicente parish, taking place from 9 to 13 June 2026 at the historic Santa Clara Market, just a few steps from the National Pantheon and the Monastery of São Vicente de Fora.
Promoted by the São Vicente Parish Council in partnership with local producers, the event reinvents the classics of the popular festivals in meat-free and fish-free versions. Expect to find:
- Vegetable "sardines" in bread, made of eggplant and seaweed
- Vegan caldo verde with Portuguese kale and tofu chorizo
- Plant-based bifanas and mushroom pregos
- Portuguese craft beers, kombuchas and organic wines
- Traditional sweets in vegan version, including coconut milk rice pudding
The musical component includes acoustic concerts, DJ sets of contemporary Portuguese music and adapted popular marches. The space between the market stalls is decorated with basil pots, colorful ribbons and art installations by local producers.
The Santa Clara Market, known for the neighboring Feira da Ladra flea market (held on Tuesdays and Saturdays), offers a unique setting: a 19th-century building overlooking the Tagus, surrounded by the steep streets of Alfama and Graça. Entry is free, with optional consumption at the stalls.
