TransMadeira Enduro 2026 (Autumn Edition) — São Vicente Stage

· São Vicente

The autumn edition of TransMadeira, one of Europe's most demanding mountain bike enduro races, passes through São Vicente from September 28 to October 3, 2026. Riders from around the world tackle spectacular trails along Madeira's north coast, giving visitors a free, thrilling mix of sport and scenery.

From September 28 to October 3, 2026, the municipality of São Vicente becomes one of the stages for the autumn edition of TransMadeira, an international mountain bike enduro race that crosses the island from east to west, from Machico to Calheta. The event brings together professional and amateur riders from dozens of countries, competing across roughly 250 km of trails and more than 30 special stages spread across the municipalities of Machico, Santana, São Vicente, Calheta and Funchal.

The São Vicente stage takes advantage of the dramatic landscape of Madeira's north coast, with trails that descend through levadas, laurel forests and old rural paths close to the sea. For visitors in the region at this time, it's a unique chance to watch a world-class competition for free, with athletes racing at high speed through scenery that blends wild nature and Madeiran tradition.

Beyond the race itself, TransMadeira brings extra energy to the towns it passes through, with support zones, food trucks and a festive atmosphere near the stage start and finish areas. Organizers highlight the "Bike Camp" experience, where participants camp near the race locations each night, strengthening the connection between athletes and local communities throughout the six-day event.

For boa.pt visitors, we recommend checking the official calendar at trans-madeira.com to confirm the exact day and time the stage passes through São Vicente, as timings can shift due to weather or logistics. It's worth combining your visit with a walk through São Vicente's historic center, its volcanic caves, or the coastline near Porto do Moniz, soaking up the buzz brought by the sporting event.

This is a free event for spectators, with paid entry only for participating athletes. Arrive early at the passage points to secure a good viewing spot, and wear comfortable footwear, as much of the route crosses rural and mountainous terrain.
