Sea Week 2026 - Porto Moniz

· Porto Moniz

Sea Week returns to Porto Moniz from 22 to 26 July 2026, with five days of music, gastronomy and ocean-related activities. Carolina Deslandes, Bandidos do Cante and Diogo Piçarra are among the confirmed artists at this free festival held by the natural pools.

Sea Week 2026 (Semana do Mar) returns to Porto Moniz, on the northwestern tip of Madeira Island, from 22 to 26 July 2026. Widely regarded as one of the most complete events of the Madeiran summer, the festival blends live music, regional gastronomy, water sports and cultural entertainment in a unique setting: the Porto Moniz seafront, framed by the famous volcanic natural pools.

The musical line-up features some of Portugal's biggest names. On 22 July, opening night belongs to Carolina Deslandes, one of the most acclaimed voices in Portuguese pop. On 23 July, Bandidos do Cante take the stage with their modern reinterpretation of the Alentejo "cante". On 24 July, Diogo Piçarra brings his "Entre as Estrelas" tour, expected to be one of the highlights of the festival with his greatest hits. Additional artists will be announced in the weeks leading up to the event.

Beyond the concerts, the programme features traditional food stalls showcasing Madeiran flavours — from espetada (beef skewers) and bolo do caco bread to bacalhau and regional sweets. Water-based activities bring the coastline alive, including demonstrations of nautical sports, boat trips and family fun in the natural pools.

The festival opens with a traditional ceremony performed by local cultural and folk groups, reinforcing the strong Madeiran identity of the event. Across the five days, expect street entertainment, themed exhibitions and family-friendly activities. Admission is free, making Sea Week one of the best ways to experience the authentic Porto Moniz at the peak of summer.

Early arrival is recommended on big-concert nights, given the large crowds that flock from across the island and the mainland. Porto Moniz lies about 1h20 by road from Funchal, and a visit pairs perfectly with a swim in the natural pools and a tasting of wines from the neighbouring Seixal region.
