Sea Week 2026 – Horta
The 49th edition of Sea Week returns to Horta from 31 July to 9 August 2026, the largest nautical festival in the country. Regattas, concerts, an ethnographic parade, gastronomy and folklore animate the city across ten unforgettable days.
The Sea Week (Semana do Mar) is the largest nautical festival in Portugal and one of the main cultural celebrations in the Azores. In 2026 it holds its 49th edition in the city of Horta, on Faial island, from 31 July to 9 August. For ten days, the harbour and downtown Horta fill with boats, music, colour and tradition, attracting visitors from around the world.
The sporting side is the heart of the event, headlined by the Atlantis Cup – Autonomy Regatta and the Classe 6.5 Les Sables – Horta – Les Sables. This edition is expected to see a record number of boats simultaneously in Horta harbour, one of the most iconic marinas in the Atlantic and an essential stopover for sailors crossing the ocean.
On the cultural side, the ethnographic parade carries the theme "Cosmopolitan Faial", involving all 13 parishes of the municipality in a procession celebrating the island's diversity and identity. The programme also features folklore, philharmonic bands, local gastronomy, crafts and religious moments such as the Festa de Nossa Senhora da Guia and its traditional nautical procession.
The main stage hosts a diverse musical line-up with leading names from the Portuguese scene, including Lon3r Johny, Quinta do Bill, Julinho KSD, Zarko, Insert Coin, Vizinhos, Blasted Mechanism and Paulo Gonzo. The festival closes on 9 August with a concert by the Light Music Orchestra of Horta City Council.
For tourists, Sea Week is the perfect chance to experience the maritime soul of the Azores, combining the discovery of Faial island — with its Caldeira, the Capelinhos volcano and the famous Marina da Horta — with ten days of non-stop entertainment. As it is the most sought-after event of the Faial summer, booking flights and accommodation well in advance is strongly recommended.
