Piano Recital by António Oliveira – Ducal Palace Concert Season

· Vila Viçosa

On 26 June 2026, the Chapel of the Ducal Palace of Vila Viçosa welcomes a piano recital by António Oliveira, part of the 2026 Concert Season of the House of Bragança Foundation. Free admission, subject to capacity.

The 2026 Concert Season at the Chapel of the Ducal Palace of Vila Viçosa continues on 26 June with a piano recital by António Oliveira. The concert begins at 9:00 PM and is one of the ten performances programmed by the House of Bragança Foundation throughout the year, always on the last Friday of the month.

The 2026 season, which runs from March to December, brings together music, research and historical context, with special focus on the bicentennial of the death of King João VI. Several of the year's programmes are inspired by the monarch's life and the historical period in which he lived, blending musical performance with historical and cultural reflection.

The Chapel of the Ducal Palace is one of the most unique venues for classical music in Portugal. Built in the 16th century within the imposing Ducal Palace of the Dukes of Bragança, it offers exceptional acoustics and an intimate atmosphere, with Alentejo marble decoration, frescoes and gilded woodwork that surround the audience in a one-of-a-kind experience.

António Oliveira, a pianist with a solid career, brings to the stage a carefully selected programme designed to dialogue with the venue and the theme of the season. While the specific repertoire of the recital will be revealed closer to the date, audiences can expect a programme bridging great names of the piano literature with works from the evoked historical period.

Admission is free, subject to capacity, so early arrival is recommended. The organisers also suggest taking the opportunity to visit the Ducal Palace, its gardens, the Armoury, the Carriage Collection and the Treasury — one of the richest heritage complexes in the country.
