MIUT® – Madeira Island Ultra-Trail® 2026 is one of Europe's most iconic trail running events, organized by the Clube de Montanha do Funchal. The 17th edition takes place from April 22 to 26, 2026, with the main races on April 25–26, attracting around 3,500 participants from across the globe.

The event features five single-stage, non-stop races: MIUT 115 (115 km), MIUT 85 (85 km), MIUT 60 (60 km), MIUT 42 (42 km), and MIUT 16 (16 km). The longest race departs from Porto Moniz at midnight, traversing the Paul da Serra plateau, ascending to Pico Ruivo, the island's highest point at 1,862 meters, and descending through Ribeiro Frio to Machico.

The course crosses the municipality of Câmara de Lobos, passing through the stunning Curral das Freiras region, a deep valley surrounded by towering volcanic cliffs. This section is considered one of the most spectacular and challenging parts of the entire race, featuring technical trails and breathtaking scenery.

For spectators and tourists in Câmara de Lobos, MIUT offers a unique opportunity to watch elite and amateur athletes navigate Madeira's ancient trails. The passage points in the municipality are perfect spots to cheer on runners and soak up the electrifying atmosphere of the competition.

MIUT is also an excellent way to discover Madeira's natural heritage, with routes that include centuries-old levadas, laurel forests (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and viewpoints with panoramic views over the Atlantic Ocean. All distances for 2026 are sold out, but the event is free for spectators along the course.
