Danced Visits at MU.SA – Sintra Museum of the Arts
MU.SA – Sintra Museum of the Arts launches its Danced Visits series on March 17, 2026. Themed 'Journey of the Gaze – The House of MU.SA', the session combines interpretive dance with live accordion music by Pedro Santos.
MU.SA – Sintra Museum of the Arts presents an innovative initiative that promises to transform how visitors experience the museum's artworks. On March 17, 2026, at 4:30 PM, the Danced Visits series begins, a concept that combines interpretive dance with live music, creating an immersive and multisensory experience.
The first session, titled 'Journey of the Gaze – The House of MU.SA', will be accompanied by the live accordion of Pedro Santos, providing a soundtrack that dialogues with the dancers' movements and the works on display. This unique combination of performing arts with visual arts invites participants to discover new perspectives and reflections on the exhibited pieces.
The initiative, promoted by the Sintra Municipal Council, aims to encourage a deeper and more personal relationship with the museum's collection. Rather than a traditional guided tour based on verbal explanations, the Danced Visits use the body and movement as a language of interpretation, allowing for a more emotional and intuitive immersion in the museum's spaces.
The program is open to the general public but has been especially designed for families with children aged 4 and up, making it an ideal activity for those visiting Sintra with young ones. Admission is free, making this cultural experience even more accessible.
MU.SA is housed in the former Sintra Casino building on Avenida Heliodoro Salgado, next to the Centro Cultural Olga Cadaval in the Estefânia area. The museum holds an important collection of modern and contemporary Portuguese art, including paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts.
This first March session is just the beginning of a series that will extend throughout the year, with five events planned in total. For visitors to Sintra seeking cultural experiences beyond the usual circuit of palaces and gardens, MU.SA's Danced Visits represent a unique opportunity to discover the town through a different and engaging artistic perspective.
